knock knock?

Is it? I feel like sometimes you get lots of opportunities everyday...you just need to realize that they are in fact opportunities. How do you realize that? Oy, its scary to think how if you aren't paying attention, you might miss it. Its too much to worry about...just keep your eyes open and hope for the best!

Its all in the name

I sat down the other night to watch September Issue. In case you are unaware of this film, it is a documentary about the coveted September issue of Vogue magazine. They deem this issue the "fashion bible" and it's the start of the fall fashion scene. If you know me, you know that I am a purse fanatic. It all started with Louis Vuitton, then Coach, throw some Dolce & Gabbana in the mix, and now Gucci. I was a Label whore. I can't wear the clothes, so the purses were the only thing that I could own that would show I liked labels....until this film. The film did nothing wrong, I didn't learn anything extraordinary that I didn't know before. What did happen, however, is all of a sudden my mind opened up and realized that fashion=a bunch of people sitting around a table dictating an agenda. Editors, designers, Corporate goons alike...they all decide what the "it" things will be, and somehow we all blindly take it and go, yes that IS amazing, I love that, I must own it. Now, after this "epiphany" I don't even want to be apart of it. I want to buy things because I like them not because 5 months ago a group of people decided so.

Is this what we call growing up...and thinking for yourself? damn.

We are the World?

There comes a time

When we head a certain call

When the world must come together as one

There are people dying

And it's time to lend a hand to life

The greatest gift of all

We can't go on pretending day by day

That someone, somewhere will soon make a change

We are all a part of God's great big family

And the truth, you know love is all we need

We are the world

We are the children

We are the ones who make a brighter day

So let's start giving

There's a choice we're making

We're saving our own lives

It's true we'll make a better day

Just you and me

Send them your heart

So they'll know that someone cares

And their lives will be stronger and free

As God has shown us by turning stone to bread

So we all must lend a helping hand

We are the world

We are the children

We are the ones who make a brighter day

So let's start giving

There's a choice we're making

We're saving our own lives

It's true we'll make a better day

Just you and me

When you're down and out

There seems no hope at all

But if you just believe

There's no way we can fall

Well, well, well, well, let us realize

That a change will only come

When we stand together as one

We are the world

We are the children

We are the ones who make a brighter day

So let's start giving

There's a choice we're making

We're saving our own lives

It's true we'll make a better day

Just you and me

What do you think of the We are the World remake? The people involved in this song are so random. Vince Vaughn, really? I love me some Vince Vaughn, trust that. He is an ACTOR. Also...I realize that Wyclef is Haitian and this remake was technically for Haiti relief, but his added vibrato thing that he did is really bizarre to me and throws off the whole song. I will say, however, that regardless of the auto tune (don't get me started on auto tune...if you need it, you shouldn't be recording it!) and the weird picks of people who are representatives of our "world", it still invokes the same feelings that I had when the first one came out. The lyrics, the harmonies, the feelings behind it all. I still love what the song meant and still means. I hope that it lives on and not just for Haiti.

love & all that jazz

I am not a big fan of Valentines Day. Don't get me wrong,
I am all for telling someone you love them...I just feel like you should've already been doing that. You don't need a special day to show someone you love them! I'm guilty of falling into the trap of the day...I think we've all fallen victim to it a time or two.

I do miss having someone (besides my family) tell me how much they love me. I miss the special touch that only that one person provided. I miss the tender kisses and holding hands. I still love this person very much...but they have moved on and are happy. I miss being the one that put the smile on her face.

Have a Happy Valentines day! Make sure you tell all the people in your life how much you love them....but not just tomorrow. Do it everyday.

snowmaggedon

Well I've been stuck in the house for 15 hours now. This is cabin fever at it's best. We have about 30 inches outside which won't be melting until June.
Aside from the mass shoveling that will need to take place tomorrow, I'd like to get out and walk through the neighborhood and take some pictures. The snow is beautiful! It's really wet and heavy, so all the trees branches are hanging low.
I am supposed to work tomorrow night but my neighborhood hasn't even seen a plow...so we will see if I get out. I think I may just go to bed...I cannot possibly watch any more TV.
